Now Playing Tracks

Artist: Amanda McCavourShe’s a Canadian artist who “draws” with string, and makes three-dimensional drawings that are meant to be suspended in the air.  She was really interested in line drawing, and one day thought “hey, why don’t I “draw” with thread?”  So she found a water-soluble material that would allow her to sew it and then dissolve it until only the threads that she wanted to be seen were visible.  She can create shadows and highlights in her “3D drawing” by choosing which threads to dissolve.
